United Space Parade

The UNITED SPACE PARADE enthused thousands of people of Marzahn and their guests as a unique phantasy festival in the years from 1999 to 2002.

It took place annually on the Day of Space Travel – the third weekend of September and communicated in a spacey and funny way that without visions and creativity, no human progress and future is possible!

A futuristic parade, designed by young people, proceeded down Allee der Kosmonauten (Avenue of Cosmonauts) in Marzahn with spectacular vehicles, costumes and props, a vivacious cultural programme with young artists from many countries and a festival of fun and games for young and old focussing on life at the ISS international space station. This was supplemented by films, exhibitions, discussions with astronauts such as Sigmund Jähn, Hans Wilhelm Schlegel or the space travel scientist and the NASA programme manager in charge of the Department for Manned Space Travel, Jesco von Puttkamer.
